horsey everyone has their addictions... a Canadian feature film - 1997 - 93 min. delilah is a chronic sexaholic. ryland has a little problem with heroin. mrs. black has a full blown addiction to god. delilah wants sex. ryland wants drugs. mrs. black wants god. everyone has their addictions. horsey is a coming of age story set in east Vancouver's alternative arts scene. delilah miller is an explosive twenty three year old painter. she tries to reconcile her insatiable appetite for both men and women with her desire for a relationship with the intensely monogamous rock star ryland yale. ryland has a few of his own struggles - first and foremost the little problem with heroin. thrown into the mix, for good measure, is the sweetly fanatical mrs. black...who has a hard on for god. despite, or because of their differences, ryland and delilah fall madly in love; fighting f**king and feeding off each other's insanity. as delilah becomes wrapped up in ryland's apathetic world she hardly ever paints...she hardly ever does anything. disappointed by her behavior, her friends gradually disappear from her life. mrs. black, however, diligently courts delilah hoping to sway her over to a romance with the original rockstar...jesus christ. ryland steals money delilah makes from the sale of her first painting to his rich mother. delilah, heartbroken, asks him to leave. after he is gone delilah begins to paint again. mrs. black moves in fast. delilah, encouraged by mrs. black's belief in her and by a former lover's confidence in her work, approaches established galleries only to be rejected by every one. but she has come too far to give up on her dreams. sex. drugs. god. what happens when you figure out what you really want? |
